What will be in Caroline's Gallery of Dreams?
Art is always in the eye of the beholder, and tastes are ever evolving but this club will celebrate those works which I love to gaze at, whose colours capture me and whose subjects carry me away in my imagination! Below you can get a taste of what is to come, with a number of colourways already locked in!
JANUARY:
Degas's dancers adorn my walls at home and so in my dream gallery has rooms devoted!
Pastel studies of French ballerinas, evoking movement and passion. A firm favourite and an artist worth featuring.
MARCH:
Van Gogh, and the movement of Starry Skies, holds a special place in the gallery.
The depth obtained through the brushstrokes in this stage of Van Gogh's work are famous for good reason.
T.B.C.
Monet remains an impressionist icon, and this classic is perfect.
Pointillism fascinated me as a child, exploring the sense of movement and texture in nature and landscapes.
T.B.C.
Kandinski brings a modern piece to my dream gallery.
With a huge body of work which journeys through styles, his Bauhaus era provides bold colour and shape statements.
T.B.C.
Difficult to contain in a gallery, but Gaudi and his decorative architecture is pure artistry to celebrate!
Casa Mila and Parc Guell can perhaps be the building and grounds of this gallery of my dreams?
T.B.C.
Renoir provided fluid portraiture and group scenes in the classic impressionist style I am alway a sucker for!
With faces full of expression, and movement in his composition, Renoir is a wonderful addition.
FEBRUARY:
This Klimt piece draws the eye to every inch, with mixed media creating a rich backdrop!
Working in gold leaf, adding texture and gilt, Klimt has a fascinating body of work to explore.
APRIL:
A different addition, William Morris created intricate and beautiful textiles worthy of addition!
With layers of detail and attention to detail, my favourite Morris designs are dark and high contrast.
T.B.C.
Turners landscapes of Venice evoke a feeling of peace.
The soft light, pastel tones and the impressionist styles make these pieces the ones I would add to my Gallery.
T.B.C.
Yoshida brings a depth and attention to detail in his classic woodcut artworks.
Weeping cherry blossoms are ever beautiful in nature and in art, captured in traditional woodblock prints here!
T.B.C.
Monet again, but his London works feel different!
Similar to Turner's Venice works, the same qualities appeal to me here. Soft sunlight and the movement of water!
T.B.C.
Hokusai and his iconic woodcuts of Japanese scenes deserve a prime spot in the gallery.
The skill, and beauty, of these woodcut pieces remain a favourite of mine and are celebrated in our gallery.
